The end's not near. It's here.

image via here

This was supposed to be on Facebook some time ago after viewing my friend's pictures of her life in Melbourne, but I didn't feel like clicking the 'share' button there after typing the paragraph. So here it goes:

I miss Melbourne with BFF 1 - sipping tea at the sidewalk cafes, seeing talents on the streets busking, discovering hidden boutiques and shops selling quirky stuff at the alleys, enjoying authentic Italian food at Lygon Street and sticky date pudding at The Quarter, going 'wow' at scenery, taking tram rides to get to places, laughing at things and at memories and simply being ourselves. I actually miss the process of waking up every morning having to get her to roll out of bed.

I'm afraid this will be my last post (or one of my last posts) here. Enjoy the archives as I move away to use my long defunct Wordpress and Tumblr accounts. My Polyvore account will still be updated periodically though. Perhaps I could create another Blogger account.. or even, revive this account. I'll let you know somehow, someday.

Thank you for being such a faithful reader (:

With love.

1060?

Daddy periodically teases the three women at home on the number of shoes they have, comparing them to the widow of a former president of The Philippines known for her extensive shoe collection, not knowing that he has his own private shoe cupboard which Mum cleans and packs every six months. She's none other than Imelda Marcos. I have no idea who else in this world has as many pairs of shoes as her who apparently, claims she has a certain number of shoes.

"I did not have three thousand pairs of shoes. I had one thousand and sixty."
Imelda Marcos

Isn't that fascinating? 1060. And I certainly do not think any pair in her collection costs cheap.

D's wedding celebration

Had a fabulous time at D's wedding! Believe it or not, it was 2 whole days of eating and dressing-up, and if I were to take into account last year's ROM celebration, that'd be a really long event. Although the preparation was long and tedious for the wedding planners/organisers, it was all worth it when the couple waltzed into the ballroom, gave heartfelt thank-you speeches and shared bits of their love story with us. It was such a psychedelic, radiant sight with the colourful saris and cocktail dresses-clad ladies. By the way, Hilton Hotel serves really good food, especially the desserts like the chocolate fondue, bread and butter pudding, the variety of cheesecakes and the chocolate brownies. How about a high tea buffet? :P

What the ladies (friends of D) wore:

Love my chiffon dress, and the eye make-up by Shu Uemera's artist, Angeline! She has been doing my make-up for functions that I have to attend for the past 2 years.
What I wore:

Dress and belt: ASOB (Korea)
Bag: LV Sarria Mini
Shoes: J West
Watch: Chomel

a picnic menu - what to pack

It's been some time since I last had a picnic at a park or by the sea. Here is a fanciful menu in deciding what to pack for it!

+ happy weekend to you +

This is so cute!

Some things just go better together.

It's going to be another weekend with a wedding! Delighted that I can be a part of my friends' wedding preparations and of course, the dinners and all! Love the fine dining, the laughter, the colours and I certainly look forward to the dancing and the singing! Chinese wedding dinners should be just as lively!

Have a happy weekend! (:

Singapore Flyer

A ride takes about 30 minutes. It would be better to take a ride at night as the sun's rays were glaring and the night-view would be even more splendid with an illuminating Singapore skyline. Here are a few photographs of the panoramic views from the Flyer:

What I wore:

Top: Flynow III
Shorts: Mango
Bag: Longchamp Le Pliage
Necklace: Tiffany and Co.

Amazon Kindle commercials

For those of you who do not know what an Amazon Kindle is, click here. It is similar to the IPad. The following video clips are cute, interesting commercials featuring the Amazon Kindle.

Madame Flamingo

Shoes, shoes and more shoes... and if you are a shoe lover, J West's tagline 'You can't have too many shoes' will appeal to you greatly.
So... my fellow shoe-lover, have you seen (or heard) about this shoe label 'Madame Flamingo'? It's from Bangkok and you may have spotted it in a department store called Zen, located at CentralWorld.

The shoes are really popular and they have made their way to one of the shops at Haji Lane called Victoria Jomo which I am a big fan of because the shop owners bring in nice chichi stuff from overseas which are wallet/purse-friendly. You may wish to drop by Victoria Jomo to try on the shoes! Featured here are shots from Madame Flamingo that have been nicely taken to showcase the shoes. Imagine sashaying in its heels and skipping off in its flats!

Mummy loves this flowery pair!

Shall feature more of this label's shoes later... Had a long day scrapbooking and a dinner with old friends earlier. Oh yes, I've finally settled on scrapbooking; so inspired by S's creation of her mother's day gift (:

Did you play with paper dolls when you were a child?

blooms, fallen petals and leaves

Intrigued by the colours in nature. Even in Singapore, we do have hints of spring and autumn.

What's the Hype again?

Indulged in retail therapy today. Finally (: Birthday discounts are the best, you see. Bought a dress and two tops from two of my favourite boutiques at my 'playground' and I'm still not satisfied. Shopping habits die hard. How la how... Anyway, I saw another blouse this afternoon and it is exactly the same piece that I bought from a Thai designer at Siam Square last December. Well apparently, the boutique gets their stock from him too, but of course, sold at 3 times the sale price in Bangkok.

Alrighty. Now for some fashion updates. Edgy, trendy styles. Hype's new arrivals:

like i give a frock - pun intended. no bad language here.

I simply cannot get enough of Kat Macleod's illustrations. Once in a while, I'll use them to accompany random entries here. There are hints of 3D effects using real cloth in the second design from the top. The second picture from the bottom 'Like I give a frock' is one of my favourites, for certain reasons :P And the last picture at the bottom has been on my old laptop since '08 because it captures the epitome of chicness. D should be able to remember it 'cause she worked on the laptop and complained that the letter D couldn't be typed! Ha. Those were the days before the functional macbook came along. Anyway, the picture's actually the cover of a French CD album. So Frenchy, So Chic.

Got a birthday party to attend at the Mint Museum of Toys later. Time to get my studying-engine going first!

Checks and more Checks

Just last Friday while out with E, this bag caught my eye at Burberry. It's the white bag from the Spring Summer 2o10 collection that Emma Watson is carrying and it also comes in black leather strap and trimmings as seen carried by the male model (not slung). Watson's pretty, by the way.

If I recall, it is retailing at S$1695 at the boutique at Paragon. Definitely cheaper in London so... maybe, just maybe it'll arrive alongside with the 2.55. But then again, I could spend the money on other things (:

On the other hand, while surfing on the website, this small check bag with a rather long name 'Haymarket Check Soft Knot Sling Bag' looked very much as appealing as the one above in the ad. It is affordable and different from the usual check bags that they carry but and I each have one of the small check designs of different versions... so I see no point in getting another, unless Mum decides to get one for herself.

Things I want to do during the Holidays

Now that the examination dates are drawing nearer, I begin to make plans for the holidays, just like what I have done in previous entries (see here and here) so that they act as reminders of what I have achieved during the long breaks.

Anyway.

Things I want to do:

1. Spend more time with my family and friends
2. Re-visit the museums
3. D's wedding
4. Get on planes and off to happy lands
5. Indulge in scrapbooking
6. Practise hard for the Aug-Sep piano examination
7. Chanel indulgence
8. Clear the rooms of my notes
9. Look for a professional piano-tuner
10. Polish the violin
11. Shop, eat, shop, eat a.k.a 买东西吃东西, 买东西吃东西...
12. Perfect the icing on cupcakes
13. Visit the hair salon
14. Visit the dentist
15. Read books/novels (not notes or textbooks, please)
16. My one-week long birthday celebration - Oh yes, bring it on!
17. Have a picnic.
.
.
.
and this list will increase as the holiday draws nearer (:

The Fox and the Sugarcube - Thai drama and OST

My all-time favourite Thai drama. I remember watching it for the first time in S's house in 2002 on a Malaysian channel. It's called 'The Fox and the Sugarcube', starring Tik Jesadaporn and Aom Phiyada.

I recommend this series to anyone who wants to know how typical Thai dramas or lakorns are like. You can click here for the series in English subtitles. Here are the songs featured in the drama, both by Sirasuk:

Senada Theory Spring Summer 2010

As the holidays draw nearer, my shopping 'antenna' heightens. So is the excitement in the family to go to Bangkok for the bi-annual shopping trip.

Anyway. Presenting to you one of my favourite boutiques from the Land of Smiles!

Senada Theory (: I think Epitome at Serangoon Gardens is the only place in Singapore that brings in its clothes. Despite this, I will usually go to the boutique in Bangkok because it's definitely cheaper there. Well, Senada doesn't usually feature much on its website so the following is just a small preview of the entire collection. However, like most Thai designer wear, it uses material of excellent quality and cutting so you can expect every piece to be worth the 'baht'.

**********************************

Sigh. It's high time I did a stock check.
Once, I told P I needed a third wardrobe and P said, "Please. Not a wardrobe. You need a room."

Oh well. P's right. But I think I shall save money on the wardrobe and stop procrastinating on my spring-cleaning. For summer.

Kloset SS 2010 and + Happy weekend to you +

Whimsical. Attractive.
Kloset never fails to delight me. Here are my favourite few of the collection, Rustic Elegance Spring Summer 2010:

A major assignment was handed in yesterday and I still have three more to go before the examination. I really thank God for giving me wisdom, perseverance, a loving supportive family and my dear friends!

Have a happy, restful weekend, everyone (:
