To my students (or to anyone) who feel down because of your parents' constant nagging,
We all know how it feels like during teenage years when our parents give 'advice' (in harsh tones and using strong, unkind words). There is just so much pressure to fit in at school and we just want to lead our own life and be happy. However, at times, we succumb to peer pressure and we give up some resolutions and priorities that we made earlier, just to fit in with our friends.
It hurts whenever parents nag, isn't it? You just wish that they will understand the way you feel and to talk to you in a more gentle tone.
But at least they care.
In their own way.
Other than raising their voice at you, your parents probably do not know how else to tell you not to spend your money on expensive things and to pay more attention to your studies. Have you ever wondered how hard they worked, scrimped and saved to provide for your needs?
Yes, friends may seem like family.
But when the time comes when your friends no longer stand by you, or when they let you down,
the ones who gave you life and brought you up will always be there when you need them.
They will not give up on you (:
P.S. I have awesome friends and I treasure them, just like how I cherish my family.
